TEXTE\u00a0: DB &#8211; PHOTOS\u00a0: MOOHONO NIVA<\/p>\n<p><i> <strong>Un marae situ\u00e9 sur le site arch\u00e9ologique de Fare Hape, dans la haute vall\u00e9e de Papenoo, a succomb\u00e9 aux assauts du temps au niveau de l\u2019angle nord-est de la structure. Une op\u00e9ration de restauration a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e en novembre 2021.<br class=\"autobr\" \/><\/strong> <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Depuis l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2000, Fare Hape est un site culturel g\u00e9r\u00e9 par l\u2019association Haururu. Des pans de murs se sont effondr\u00e9s. Yves Doudoute, pr\u00e9sident de Haururu, a sollicit\u00e9 l\u2019aide du pays pour la sauvegarde de ce marae.<\/p>\n<p>Des appels d\u2019offres aux arch\u00e9ologues du territoire ont \u00e9t\u00e9 rapidement engag\u00e9s par la Direction de la culture et du patrimoine (DCP). Moohono Niva, retenu, revient sur cette op\u00e9ration de restauration qui s\u2019est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en novembre 2021. \u00ab Le plus d\u00e9licat \u00bb, dit-il \u00ab a \u00e9t\u00e9 de mener une construction \u00e0 l\u2019identique \u00bb. Selon lui, les travaux de restauration ne s\u2019entendent pas autrement qu\u2019en respectant les m\u00e9thodes et r\u00e9alisations des premiers b\u00e2tisseurs. Ils ont oeuvr\u00e9 \u00e0 trois pour restituer le marae \u00ab au plus proche \u00bb de ce qu\u2019il a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9. \u00ab Il ne faut rien inventer, nous avons l\u00e0 un devoir de m\u00e9moire. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Pour ce faire, Moohono Niva et son \u00e9quipe ont proc\u00e9d\u00e9 par \u00e9tapes. Ils ont commenc\u00e9 par observer et analyser le site et le vestige. Des photographies anciennes ont permis d\u2019apporter des pr\u00e9cisions compl\u00e9mentaires aux observations de terrain.<\/p>\n<p>Le marae est construit sur un terrain en pente. De ce fait, en cas de grosses pluies, l\u2019eau s\u2019accumule et avec le poids de cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment, l\u2019angle nord-est de la structure s\u2019est abim\u00e9 avec le temps. \u00ab Il y a eu deux p\u00e9riodes de construction. On s\u2019est aper\u00e7u que dans la partie inf\u00e9rieure, la partie la plus ancienne donc, il y avait un muret de sout\u00e8nement puis au-dessus un double muret. \u00bb La partie inf\u00e9rieure aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 en lien avec un dieu ancestral, \u2019Oro ou Tane. La partie sup\u00e9rieure daterait de la r\u00e9occupation du site par les m\u0101m\u0101i\u0101. Un marae n\u2019est pas fig\u00e9, il est au contraire dynamique. Il t\u00e9moigne de l\u2019\u00e9volution des hommes et de leur utilisation au fil du temps.<\/p>\n<p>La partie inf\u00e9rieure consiste en une construction dite \u00ab\u00a0en besace\u00a0\u00bb. Il s\u2019agit de l\u2019alternance de pierres dans un sens, puis dans un autre sens, pour plus de<br class=\"autobr\" \/>stabilit\u00e9. La partie sup\u00e9rieure est quant \u00e0 elle un simple empilement de pierres.<br class=\"autobr\" \/>\u00ab\u00a0Nous \u00e9tions l\u00e0 en tant que restaurateurs\u00a0\u00bb, insiste l\u2019arch\u00e9ologue,\u00ab\u00a0et nous avons fait tout ce que nous avons pu pour respecter les agencements originaux \u00e0 tous les niveaux, m\u00eame si cela ne se voit pas par la
